My favorite: The Illustrious Dead, by Stephan Talty, arguably one of the best books I&#8217;ve read in the last two years. It was a fascinating account of Napoleon&#8217;s foray into Russia, in 1812 and of what small, overlooked enemy eventually caused the defeat of the Grand Armee.
